Cape Verdean Aviators Association Inc. (“CPVAA”) is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This policy explains how online donations are accepted and administered.
How donations are used
Unless CPVAA expressly accepts a gift for a specific purpose, donations are unrestricted and may be used where they are most needed to advance CPVAA’s charitable mission, including organizational development, mentorship, education, community outreach, partnerships, aviation opportunities, and reasonable administrative costs.
Descriptions of planned scholarships, introductory flights, or other future programs communicate CPVAA’s goals. A general donation does not guarantee that a particular planned program will launch or that a specific person will receive assistance.
Payment processing and fees
Online donations are processed securely through PayPal and may be completed using PayPal, Venmo, or an eligible card. PayPal may deduct processing fees before funds reach CPVAA. Payment information is handled by PayPal under its own terms and privacy practices.
Recurring donations
If you choose a recurring donation, PayPal will process it according to the schedule and authorization shown at checkout. You may manage or cancel future recurring payments through your PayPal account or contact donations@cpvaa.org for assistance. Cancellation does not automatically refund payments already processed.
Refunds and errors
Charitable donations are generally final. CPVAA will review requests involving a duplicate transaction, incorrect amount, unauthorized payment, or other documented processing error. Requests should be sent promptly—preferably within 30 days—to donations@cpvaa.org with the donor’s name, transaction date, amount, and transaction identifier. Any refund is subject to verification, available funds, applicable law, and PayPal’s procedures and fees.
Restricted and conditional gifts
Do not use the online form to impose a restriction, condition, naming commitment, scholarship designation, or obligation on CPVAA unless CPVAA has agreed to it in writing beforehand. CPVAA may decline, return, redirect with donor consent, or seek modification of a gift that is inconsistent with its mission, creates an undue burden, cannot be administered responsibly, or may jeopardize its legal or tax status.
Tax acknowledgments
CPVAA will provide donation records or acknowledgments as appropriate. No goods or services are provided in exchange for a standard online donation unless CPVAA states otherwise. Donors are responsible for retaining their records and consulting their own tax adviser regarding deductibility. For a single contribution of $250 or more, donors should retain a contemporaneous written acknowledgment meeting applicable IRS requirements.
Privacy and donor information
CPVAA does not sell or rent donor information. Donor information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy and may be shared with service providers or authorities only as needed to process and document donations, operate the organization, comply with law, or prevent fraud and harm.
Questions
Questions about a donation, receipt, recurring payment, or this policy may be sent to donations@cpvaa.org.
